Spencer Ware believed to have PCL injury, MRI pending

The Kansas City Chiefs believe that starting running back Spencer Ware suffered a PCL injury against the Seahawks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Ware is set to have an MRI Saturday.

Ware suffered the injury after a short gain on a reception from Alex Smith. He had to be carted off the field.

The 25-year-old Ware had 1,368 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns in 14 games last season. The Chiefs have third-year player Charcandrick West and rookie Kareem Hunt behind Ware on the depth chart in the backfield.

Ware’s injury, coming not long after a leg injury suffered Friday night by Patriots starting wide receiver Julian Edelman, is sure to spur more talk about the dangers of starters playing in the preseason.

“The thing that bothers me about this whole situation is the fact that he is going to all these camps and nobody seems to think he stands a chance of being No. 1. This is a young player who almost carried a team to a championship, to a Super Bowl — but I was a Ravens fan. … Somebody needs to give this young man a chance.”

Kaepernick became a polarizing figure last season, when he kneeled for the national anthem in protest of racial discrimination and police brutality. He entered free agency in the offseason but still has not been signed.

Aaron faced racial discrimination during his time in the majors, especially when he broke Babe Ruth’s home run record in 1974. He said he received “death threats and hate mail” for accomplishing the feat — all because of the color of his skin.

Aaron isn’t the only one with Kaepernick on his mind. The NAACP has requested a meeting with the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss Kaepernick’s situation.seahawks_097

J.J. Redick, 76ers agree to one-year, $23 million contract

Free agent sharpshooter J.J. Redick has agreed to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal is worth $23 million.

Redick left the Los Angeles Clippers after the team failed to advance past the second round of the playoffs for his fourth year there. The 33-year-old shooter averaged 15 points on 43 percent three-point shooting to help power the Clippers to the West’s fourth seed.

Teodosic is revered as the best point guard outside of the United States. The 29-year-old averaged 16 points and almost seven assists per game last season, leading CSKA Moscow to four straight United League championships and a Euroleague championship in 2016.

Most notably, Teodosic shined in Olympic competition, scoring 18 points in a 2016 matchup between Serbia and Team USA. Like Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio, Teodosic is best known for his creative, crafty passing ability.

Elite Youth Shin-Soo Choo Jersey Teodosic was named 2010 Euroleague Most Valuable Player, and 53 percent of general managers voted him the best international player not in the NBA. Last season, 29 percent of GMs voted for Dario Saric.

The Serbian guard joins a Los Angeles Clippers team that recently re-signed Blake Griffin to a five-year max deal and is expected to add Danilo Gallinari via sign-and-trade in the coming days. It will be fun watching the all-world passer dime his teammates in transition.

Elite Youth Austin Seferian-Jenkins Jersey With one move, all those Thunder problems melted away. Westbrook has his sidekick, which hopefully nudges him closer to committing for the long haul. The Thunder actually trimmed salary by removing Oladipo’s four-year, $84 million deal off the books, though they’d surely love to replace it with a long-term deal for George after next season. Better yet, they found a secondary star whose off-ball game and defensive tenacity meshes perfectly with Westbrook’s aggressive style.

The Cavaliers have now seen the true Kyrie Irving.

He prioritizes the glory of self over collective achievement. That’s peculiar to be certain, but it’s not indefensible. (Kyrie’s only indefensible crime is the Flat Earth nonsense. I wish he’d drop that gimmick off the edge of the planet.)

Luke Willson Authentic Jersey Given what the Warriors have done, the Cavaliers’ margin for error is infinitesimal. Internal strife is self-inflicted pain. The Warriors and others will do Cleveland enough harm that the Cavaliers can’t afford to be helping them out.

There’s no sense in wasting one of LeBron’s final seasons — hell, maybe his very last campaign as a Cavalier. Some of us remain convinced James is never leaving northeastern Ohio to play basketball elsewhere. But after all that has happened, who can truly be certain? There’s no time to deal the cards and see what hand presents itself. It’s time to recommit to LeBron by dealing Kyrie, lest you ensure that you lose them both.

Kyrie doesn’t have hard leverage, but the circumstances have aligned to force the Cavaliers to give him what he wants. It’s only a matter of time now.

Colin Kaepernick, Marshawn Lynch, and Michael Bennett are among the NFL players who have also recently used their platforms to highlight conversations around social issues.
Andrew Adams Authentic Jersey
Kaepernick took a knee during the national anthem before games last season to protest police killings of African Americans, though he opted out of his contract and has yet to find another job in football. Lynch sat down while the national anthem was performed during Oakland’s first preseason game, something he said he has been doing for years.

‘Game of Thrones’ Night King threw a javelin and became a sports star on Twitter

Kevin Byard Authentic Jersey
Neither the NFL nor College Football season hasn’t started yet, but on Sunday night the Night King had the best throw of the year on Game of Thrones and Twitter had fun with it.
Shane Ray Limited Jersey
It’s one thing to say people go through ups and downs during the regular season. But when you get to the playoffs, when the main thing is the main thing, and we’re brothers and pulling together to get this thing done, even at that level there were still things that made him sullen or reclusive from his teammates. I’m not so sure if Phoenix would be interested in that type of deal.

Irving’s trade request, which was reported in late July, hit the NBA as a complete shock. But in the following weeks, it has slowly been revealed that those closest to the situation — teams, players, and a few of the most embedded reporters — had seen this coming. Jimmy Butler, for one, had reportedly been warned by Cavaliers players to stay away if possible. Others had seen or sensed Irving’s unhappiness and desire to leave in the months leading up to him asking out.

But the same signs that hinted at Irving’s unhappiness appears to be tanking his trade value, too. The Suns were one suitor who made more sense than most of the league, able to offer a proven veteran (Eric Bledsoe), some sort of young prospect, and a future pick. However, if they have no interest, it’s growing harder to see where the Cavaliers can field viable trade options for a player who was so important to their championship contender status.

Little League World Series scores and bracket 2017: Connecticut holds off New Jersey comeback

The kids from Connecticut withstood a furious rally from New Jersey in the sixth and final inning, holding on for a 7-6 win to highlight Day 1 at the 2017 Little League World Series at Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The team from Fairfield American Little League in Connecticut, representing the New England region in the United States bracket, took a 7-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, when the kids from Holbrook in New Jersey, representing the Mid-Atlantic region, started to chip away.

An error scored one run and a single scored another, then Chris Cartnick hit a two-run home run to pull Mid-Atlantic within one run. But that was as close as they would get.

On the international side, Canada turned on the power to beat Italy, representing the Europe-Africa region, behind two home runs from Chase Marshall. The 12-2 win for Canada lasted just four innings, with the game stopped by the 10-run mercy rule.

The series loss to Boston dropped New York’s record to 4-8 in August, but the Yankees have bounced back nicely with a four-game sweep in a home-and-home series against the New York Mets.

The Yankees averaged 5.25 runs per game against the Mets and will look to carry that offensive momentum into this weekend’s series. New York is 6-10 in its last 16 games against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Friday night’s total is set at nine runs. The UNDER is 6-1 in the last seven games between the Yankees and the Red Sox in Boston.

Boston staff ace Chris Sale gets the start against CC Sabathia on Saturday, and the series comes to a conclusion on Sunday afternoon as Doug Fister squares off against Sonny Gray.redskins_003_6c3a69b397d363df-180x180

Raiders’ Sean Smith arrested and charged with felony assault on sister’s boyfriend

Raiders cornerback Sean Smith was arrested Thursday for an alleged altercation on July 4, according to USA Today. The cornerback is facing felony assault charges.
Youth Wilt Chamberlain Jersey
Per USA Today, the prosecutor alleges that Smith beat and then stomped the head of his sister’s boyfriend and that his actions inflicted great bodily injury upon the victim.

Smith was taken into custody at 2 p.m. local time on Thursday, according to USA Today. His bail is $80,000, with a first court date set for Sept. 29. The maximum sentence Smith faces is seven years of prison.

Smith is entering his second year with the Raiders, after spending the first four years of his career in Miami with the Dolphins, and the next three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Raiders have yet to release a statement on Smith’s arrest.

The Giants will likely take a similar approach to Friday night. Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. probably won’t play in the preseason opener, either. Beckham is one of the few players in the league who can match Brown’s game-changing talent. Manning will enter his age-36 season with the deepest receiving corps he’s ever had — even if Sterling Shepard isn’t 100 percent after an early camp ankle injury.
Youth Charles Leno Jersey
Unfortunately, since this is the preseason, don’t expect to see many starters out there for either team. Instead, Friday’s game will be the first step in a four-phase game of thrones for a spot on each team’s 53-man roster.

This could have gone poorly, but it’s just on the right side of silly frat bro that it works

He explained that this was a progressive injury, a tear that was becoming greater over time and probably had begun the year before. Jose’s full-fan performance in the bullpen might have enhanced it, and then the throw from the outfield finally blew out the elbow.
It didn’t help, no. But the elbow was gummy for a while, and regular baseball activities were going to get Canseco.

Kids Chris Doleman Jersey After Canseco, though, the stars stopped pitching. For obvious reasons. But in the past, there was Ted Williams, Stan Musial (for a one-batter publicity stunt), Rocky Colavito, and Sal Bando. You will probably never see that again.

Demarcus Lawrence Game Jersey If Andrew Knapp’s nickname of Knapp Time stems from a situation where he once put someone to sleep in a high school brawl or something, that would be awesome. As it stands, it’s pretty awesome anyway. When your last name works as well as his does for a quick pun, it’s hard not to just go with the obvious choice.

Brotato is fun to say, and evokes a character from Dazed and Confused or American Pie. Silly? Yes. But the point of the weekend is to be silly for the most part. If Hand wants to let his bro flag fly, then more power to him.

What? Oh god no. Where Brotato worked in a goofy, innocent frat bro way this one sees that line in the sand and catapults over it without looking back. It’s too obvious a pun (we get it, your nickname is Blaze) and while he’s probably been using that nickname since he was a teenager, there definitely could have been more creativity put into this one.

MLB is planning games in Asia, Mexico, and England over the next few years

Elite Ryan Kelly Jersey As part of baseball’s new CBA, which was finally made public in full on Friday after being originally agreed upon in November, there are extensive details on MLB’s international expansion efforts.

Both Rojas and Marcell Ozuna were surprised by the little girl when she visited the players at the facility’s batting cages courtesy of Dee Gordon’s tour, but embraced the moment by immediately stopping what they were doing.

The family also made scheduled visits to manager Don Mattingly, as well as a requested meeting with Bryce Harper and Gio Gonzalez — friends of Fernandez who shared agent Scott Boras and were at the ballpark to face off against the Marlins the same day. Harper later said he needed that visit a lot.

As part of the new collective bargaining agreement between the players and owners that went into effect in December, World Series home-field advantage will now be determined by best record between the two teams, a marked improvement over the previous method.

Elite Adam Larsson Jersey Major League Baseball’s response to having the 2002 All-Star Game end in a tie was to add some sort of incentive to the midseason exhibition. The solution was to give World Series home-field advantage to the league that won the All-Star Game. The American League won the first seven All-Star Games under this new system and had home-field advantage in the Fall Classic in 11 of the 14 seasons under that arrangement.

While tying World Series home-field advantage to the All-Star Game seemed silly, it wasn’t any more unfair than the previous system, which was to simply alternate home-field advantage between leagues every season.

Cowboys’ Jaylon Smith will make NFL debut on Saturday vs. Colts

After a long year on the sidelines, Jaylon Smith will finally make his NFL debut.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed Smith will suit up for Saturday’s preseason game against the Colts, saying he was “very excited.”

Raiders coach Jack Del Rio was unaware of Lynch’s intention to sit but said he spoke with the veteran rusher after the game.

“(Lynch) said, ‘This is something I’ve done for 11 years. It’s not a form of anything other than me being myself,'” Del Rio said. “I said, ‘So you understand how I feel. I very strongly believe in standing for the national anthem, but I’m going to respect you as a man. You do your thing, and we’ll do ours.’ So that’s a non-issue for me.”

Lynch was not among the players who kneeled during Colin Kaepernick’s protest against police brutality and racial injustice last season, though he did praise the controversial quarterback for taking action.

Given the Broncos’ regular-season schedule for 2017, Denver better get its quarterback situation figured out well before it hosts the Los Angeles Chargers to open the season on a Monday night. Because the remainder of the Broncos’ schedule is tough.

The Broncos will appear on national TV in primetime slots five times in 2017, which means the NFL still considers them the attractive playoff contender they are. But that also means Denver’s quest to return to the playoffs after the Super Bowl hangover that was its 2016 season will not be easy. Here’s a breakdown of the Broncos’ 2017 schedule in its entirety.

He’s the biggest bust in Redskins history as the No. 3 overall pick in 1994, but he struggled most through his final NFL season in 1997. Shuler went 4-5 in his second, final chance with two touchdowns to a whopping 14 interceptions as part of a 46.6 passer rating. It took the Saints about a decade after to find their best-ever QB, Drew Brees.dolphins_027

Why did they make the moves they did at the trade deadline?

Another yikes, eh? Both are arbitration-eligible for the final time this offseason, and both will get solid bumps in salary — Britton from $11.4 million and Brach from $3.50 million. If the Orioles really are going to try and rebuild, Monday would have been the time to trade them, with contending teams desperate to add to their bullpen for the stretch run/postseason. Instead, the Orioles held onto both guys.

On one hand, that would seem to signal a desire to contend, right? But they didn’t exactly go out and get the massive upgrades it would take to be legitimate contenders this year. Instead, the Orioles seem like they’re in some type of strange holding pattern, which isn’t helping the present or the future.

The offense has come alive in recent weeks, but it’s still near the bottom of the AL in most major categories. That makes it hard to see the Royals making noise in the postseason if they get there, which raises the question: Why did they make the moves they did at the trade deadline?
Kenneth Acker Mens Jersey
The Royals think they’re good enough to go for it, so that’s what they’re doing. Keeping the band together for one last gig is a gutsy move by general manager Dayton Moore, who knows he could (and quite possibly will) lose Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas as free agents. Lorenzo Cain and Alcides Escobar can become free agents this offseason, too, but I can see them suiting up for another season in KC.

I’m not really sure what the Royals are doing. They should look at the Astros and the other teams ahead of them in the AL and realize they’re outmatched and should bow out for a season. But if they think they’re good enough, who am I to debate?

Brian Dawkins Mens Jersey Kyle Long also echoed his brother’s sentiment that their hometown should not be associated with the those participating in the hate rallies.

Obviously, people ask, ‘You’re from Charlottesville?’ It kind of leaves a bad taste in their mouths thinking that one of their guys is from Charlottesville, where they see all these rallies and stuff happening. Like I said, don’t let a few bad apples ruin what is really true about Charlottesville and that area — there’s good folks there, he said.
